Spread your wings, Class of 2013!
Posted on June 8, 2013
If you’ve been wondering why you didn’t hear much from me between January and June, here are 22 wonderfully made reasons why from the Class of 2013!
Not a duplicate in the bunch.

Congrats, grads! Thanks for letting me spend a bit of time with you before you spread your wings and fly out of the nest.
Those who wait upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their wings and soar like eagles.
They run and don’t get tired; they walk and don’t lag behind.

Doubly, abundantly, extravagantly blessed
Posted on June 6, 2013
No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. This really IS a brand new blog post — the first one in months! I’ve been away so long, I figured I’d better bring you something spectacular.
Something like, oh I don’t know, a gorgeous mom, a giddy dad, and a thrilled big sister expecting TWINS.

Dad doesn’t look the least bit excited, does he? And these two don’t look the least bit happy together, do they?

Things have already been fun in their world, thanks to this spunky gal. That spunk is going to come in handy as she takes on the role of Chief Baby Brother Wrangler.

I wouldn’t have thought this family could be any more beautiful, but God’s vision for them is extravagant.

“Twice the blessing,” He thought. “That should just about do it.”

My best guesstimate is that we’ll be meeting those little blessings in about four weeks. Stay tuned!
I’ll make a list of God’s gracious dealings, all the things God has done that need praising,
all the generous bounties of God, His great goodness — compassion lavished, love extravagant.

More faces, more stories
Posted on January 4, 2013
This fall I had the joy of photographing several new faces as well as lots of familiar ones.
Some of those faces were extra furry!

Some of them went home covered in saltwater and sand.

Some families were still in the process of becoming perfectly blended …

… while others have been inseparable since their very beginning.

I got to catch up with the 5 households who make up this beautiful extended family …

… and capture photos of a certain little one charming all of the VIPs in her life.

Then there were the first of this year’s graduating seniors …

… along with a beautiful couple preparing for their own milestone coming up in July.

Last but not least were the two businesses I enjoy creating Christmas cards for every year.

They hardly even argue with me anymore when I say things like “stand there and look like rock stars” or “look all around and make funny faces.”
I am blessed – B L E S S E D – to have been given this work to do. Every portrait session opens a window into a new story, and each story is even more captivating than the one before. I’m grateful for the stories shared with me in 2012 and look forward to new chapters that will unfold in 2013!
I’ll never quit telling the story of Your love —
how You built the cosmos and guaranteed everything in it.
Your love has always been our lives’ foundation, Your fidelity has been the roof over our world.

A collection of faces
Posted on January 3, 2013
If you’ve been wondering what sort of wonderfully made faces I’ve been focusing on lately, here’s a quick gallop through the past few months.
There have been lots of families …

… some of them small and some of them expanding by leaps and bounds.

Some of them silly …

… and some of them pretending to be serious.

There have been adorable preschoolers in front of studio lights …

… and on shady back porches.

There have been college grads (way to go, you two!) …

… and this character who will one day rule the world.

There was a fun afternoon with the most expressive two-year-old playing in the backyard with his Gran and PawPaw …

… and the fun Open House day meeting new friends and offering free head shots.

A few men agreed to have their photo taken that day as well …

… along with a couple more at Sunny Hearts’ Men’s Night Out event.

I also got to hang out with The Oh Hellos and do some new promo photos.
And that’s only the half of it! I’ll be back soon with another set of unique faces. Until then:
The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.

We love because God first loved us
Posted on October 4, 2012
Here’s the thing about Zach and Shayna: THEY ARE IN LOVE.
There are other good things to know about them as well, but you just can’t miss that most important, obvious fact.

Some other plain facts are that they love their highly energetic dog, Lloyd …

… they have a VERY important date set for next year …

… they are (evidently) undercover spies currently working in various locations throughout southeast Texas (shhhhh!) …

… and they are absolutely ruthless wielders of Nerf swords.

I’ve got a good feeling about this partnership.

Shayna is often the ringleader with the big ideas, but Zach is more than willing to play along.

And when Shayna comes up with a plan, Zach is ready to add his own special touch.

They know the true Source of their true love, and it shows.

Plenty colorful as separate works of art …

… together they’re a masterpiece.
I loved everything about this shoot, Shayna and Zach, even risking my life by climbing on a second-story roof with you. Spending more time with you and capturing your love over these next several months is sure to be a delight!
Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another,
God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.
We love because He first loved us.
